WHAT IS A PUBLIC AQUARIUM DESIGN GUARDIAN ?
INDEPENDENT PUBLIC AQUARIUM DESIGN GUARDIAN. CLIENT-FOCUSED.
FROM CONCEPT TO OPENING.
Independent oversight embedded within your project, ensuring design decisions translate into operational performance, stability, and resilience.
From concept definition through to construction observation and commissioning, ArcVigil provides independent oversight on behalf of the client at every stage of the design and build process.
Whether you are an investor who needs an expert protecting your interests, or an architect who recognises that delivering an aquarium attraction requires expertise beyond your core team, we are that independent voice.
"Every engagement begins with a confidential conversation."
ARCHITECTS AND DEVELOPERS
INDEPENDENT EXPERTISE. ONE CLEAR PURPOSE.

Specialist Knowledge
Operational and welfare expertise no architectural team is expected to carry.

Client Protection
The brief is protected and delivered without compromise or drift.

Risk
Reduction
Operational conflicts caught in design before they reach the site.

Shared
Success
The project delivers and everyone's reputation is protected.
The role of the Design Guardian is to bring independent operational expertise that architects cannot be expected to carry in-house, ensuring appointed third-party specialists are held to account, conflicted recommendations are challenged without compromise, and every design decision serves the project and the client it was built for.
DESIGN GUARDIAN IN PRACTICE
PROVEN AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL. INTERNATIONALLY DELIVERED.
Our principles of Design Guardianship have been applied at the highest level, across sovereign, commercial, and luxury destinations internationally.

Red Sea Global
One of the most ambitious marine life projects ever undertaken in the Middle East. This could not be a facility like any other in the world, the territory truly demanded something entirely its own. Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 genuinely demanded a world-first destination, and the Red Sea Marine Life Institute at AMAALA was conceived to deliver exactly that. Located within the Prince Mohammed bin Salman Natural Reserve — one of the most ecologically pristine and marine-diverse territories on earth — the Institute was designed as both a world-class research facility and a deeply immersive visitor experience, inspiring guests to explore the unique marine wonders of the Red Sea. Design Guardian oversight was embedded from the very earliest concept stage, translating an extraordinary architectural vision into a fully operational, world-first marine life institution, shaped entirely from first principles, overseen closely at every stage, and delivered precisely to the standard the Kingdom demanded.

SEVEN
Entertainment
AMAQ Aquarium - A world-class public aquarium built to redefine the visitor experience, from front to back of house. AMAQ Aquarium forms the centrepiece of SEVEN Entertainment Group's major family entertainment destination in Saudi Arabia's Eastern Province, a region deeply connected to the marine heritage of the Arabian Gulf and Red Sea. Where most aquarium attractions draw from marine habitats across the globe, AMAQ takes a fundamentally different approach, encompassing fifteen immersive galleries dedicated exclusively to the marine environments of the Arabian Gulf and Red Sea. Grounding the visitor experience firmly in the natural heritage of the Kingdom, the facility was designed to set a new benchmark for public aquarium attractions. AMAQ incorporates a uniquely extensive back-of-house access experience, bringing visitors closer to the operation, the animals, and the science than any other comparable facility. Design Guardian oversight ensured this ambition was protected throughout, from concept and design through to opening.

Jumeirah
Group
Two distinct but equally demanding projects delivered under the Jumeirah Group. At the Burj Al Arab, an extensive five-year life support refurbishment programme was designed and delivered across multiple live systems simultaneously, alongside a complete reimagining of the hotel's aquarium exhibits. At Jumeirah Al Naseem, a purpose-designed 2,300 square metre outdoor rehabilitation lagoon was conceived and delivered as an integral part of the new hotel, along with seven interconnected environments recreating the natural habitats sea turtles require for their final stages of rehabilitation. This became the permanent home of the Dubai Turtle Rehabilitation Project, executed without compromising the standards expected of one of the world's most recognised luxury destinations. The project included the discovery of the world's first parthenogenesis research programme for zebra sharks.
